Enfield and Croydon share the honours at London Youth Games Disability Gala
Enfield and Croydon shared the honours at the annual London Youth Games disability swimming gala in Hillingdon on June 15. The gala attracted over 350 swimmers and was the first real test of the new pool at Hillingdon leisure complex.
Problems with the timing system and a broken lane rope had some impact on the schedule but all the races were completed including the relays. For the first time the gala included four races for London's competitive (and classified) disabled swimmers and eight members of the London squad, each from different boroughs, competed for honours in those races.

Swim 21 News
On Wednesday this week, Esther Hill the Swim21 Co-ordinator for the London Region, travelled to Loughborough to attend the National Swim21 Panel.  She is pleased to announce that three London clubs have added new levels to their Swim21 Accreditations.  The London Borough of Redbridge SC, who were originally accredited at Competitive Development Level, have worked hard over the last few months making many changes to their Learn to Swim section and have now added, Teaching, Skill Development and Masters to their Accreditation.  They must be particularly commended for the amount of older ex-competitive swimmers, who are now helping/teaching in their Learn to Swim sessions.

Borough of Waltham Forest SC, who were originally accredited at Teaching, Skill Development and Competitive Development have now also added Masters to their Accreditation.  They had not originally been able to accredit at Masters Level as they did not have a designated coach for this section.  Following the appointment of their new Club Coach, Gavin Povall, six months ago, Gavin has now taken on the Masters section of the club and numbers of older swimmers are rising steadily.

Ealing SC have also added another level to their Accreditation.  They were currently accredited at Teaching, Competitive Development and Performance levels and have now added Skill Development to this impressive hoard of accredited levels.  They have achieved this after some re-organisation of their Squads and have now seen the level of their qualified teachers/coaches improve through this process. They are looking to add Water Polo to their Swim21 Accreditations in the near future.

Eleven London clubs also successfully re-validated their Swim21 Accreditations.  They are: Greenwich Borough Mariners SC, Cheam Marcuda SC, Bethnal Green SC, Croydon Amphibians SC, Ealing SC, Wandsworth SC, Dagenham SC, Saxon Crown SC, Survive and Save Training, Waltham Forest Diving and Havering Cormorants Diving.  London Swimming would like to congratulate all of the clubs that have either accredited at new levels or re-validated their Swim21 accreditation, for their continued development of their clubs through the Swim21 process and would like to wish them good luck for the future.
