Young People the Future of Volunteering
As British sport firmly focuses its sight on achieving success in 2012, the Amateur Swimming Association is working hard to recruit the next generation of volunteers to support all disciplines of our sport in the future.
To lead this engagement and partnership working with young people the ASA is looking to recruit the next group of 10 young leaders aged 18-26 to join the ASA National Youth Forum Forum. This is a unique opportunity for young volunteers to work alongside the ASA and to understand and influence how it supports and works with young volunteers.
The ASA Youth Forum has been set up to enable young people involved in the sport to have a direct impact on how the ASA is run and become involved in programmes that have a direct impact on young people.
The group will meet 4 times throughout the year. At their meetings with will be consulted on issues that impact on young people and will be asked to advise on specific programmes such as training opportunities for young volunteers. The group will receive training on topics such as finance, communication and governance in order to give them the skills to be able to fulfil their roles within the group.
