It’s not often that you get the opportunity to stand at the bottom of the diving pool as it is being built. Colin Brown (RD), Michelle Weltman, London board member and Newham Council, Gareth Kirk from GLL and officials coaches and athletes from Newham swimming club had all been invited to take a walking tour of the aquatics centre. Partly this was to celebrate the work going on in Newham to create an aquatics legacy 3 years out from the games. Standing in a 6m hole at the bottom of the diving pit looking up at the wonderful curving roof while they poured the concrete for the foundations of the diving board was truly inspiring.
