Sports Science packages for clubs
London Swimming proudly presents its Sports Science Programme aimed at supporting clubs and its members through improving performance. We have created a variety of options for clubs to choose from whether it needs to be an education session, or a more personal session such as a one to one.  The sessions can be delivered to athletes and parents or coaches, and there is flexibility around the options to ensure the delivery meets the needs of the club and its audience, at reasonable prices. On our team we have a Sports Nutritionist, Sports Psychologist, 2 Sports Physiotherapists, an Osteopath and a Strength & Conditioning Coach, all of which have worked with performance athletes ranging from County right through to Olympic standard.

Masters News – Club News
Spencer - Our annual camp at Club La Santa, Lanzarote is considered to be the premier training camp for masters, attracting over 80 masters this year. All the usual CLS facilities were well used and supported by our masters group. Many were seen taking part in the aerobics, yoga and fitness classes during the day. The Spencer beach volleyball competition was popular again, with swimmers and spectators alike, as was the golf, tennis and cycling. There was so much going on at the centre between sessions, and our swimmers took full advantage of this. We also did well in the CLS triathlon, biathlon and running competitions. We also held our traditional ‘Olympic Programme’ where swimmers cover every event at the Olympic Games, including every leg of the relays. Next year’s camp has been booked for 6th -13th May 2010. Sixty swimmers have signed up already for the training week.

Congratulations are also due to the Women’s 280-319 yrs relay team who at the European Masters Championships set a new World record in the Women’s 4x 50m Medley. Team mate Amanda Heath continue to make her mark on the Championships, taking a gold and setting a new European record in the Women’s 200m Breaststroke, powering home in 3:02.47, 13 seconds ahead of her nearest rival in the 50-54yrs age group.

Kings Cormorants -Congratulations to Phil Newman who swam in a 3 man English Channel relay team on 24th Sept, completing the swim in an official time of 10hrs and 20mins.

Otter -Derek Parr got off to a storming start claiming a silver medal in the 200IM and smashing the British Record in the process. He continued to swim well through the meet, despite a mild dose of ‘swine flu’, and picked up further medals in the 200 fly (gold), 100 fly (silver) and 50 fly (bronze). In the 800fc, Dan Bullock secured his best result, with bronze at the top of his age, and is no doubt happy to be moving up and age group next year. Gina Hobson was pleased to come away with silver in the 100fly and bronze in the 50fly.

Camden Swiss Cottage - Calum McKinlay took the headlines by setting two British records and winning gold in 200 free and bronze in 800 free, while Susan Halter took silver in 50 back and bronze in 100 free.

Ruislip and Northwood -Congratulations to Trevor Colman on his successful solo Channel swim on 18th August, and landed just to the west of Calais after a 17 hours 20 minutes swim.
