This week Colin Brown (RD) had meetings with Westminster Council, Greater London Authority, Leisure Database Company and Aquaterra Leisure.Colin really enjoyed the meeting with GLL, Skills Active and the London Development Agency which was ‘raided’ by Common Purpose - a leadership organisation who brought 9 people from a wide range of employers in the private, public and voluntary sectors to challenge our thinking and give a different insight into this issue. Colin is hoping to end the week with a visit to the London Youth Games diving at Crystal Palace.
Next week: Colin will be meeting with the Southampton University MSc student who will be undertaking a summer placement with London Swimming to set the timescales for his project. Colin will also be taking a well earned day off to attend Henley Royal Regatta to remind himself what rowing is all about. Colin will be attending a meeting of his peers at the Regional Director meeting in Loughborough.

This week Jo Calvino (Aquatic Development Programme Co-ordinator) has been catching up with correspondence, since returning from a training camp in Norway, around future master classes, sports science packages, and the London Swimming ACM in September. Do you want to be able to deliver the Young Aquatic Organisers Award in your club and get more young volunteers helping? Then why not book onto the tutor training day organised for July 13th, for more information click here. Jo will also be managing and officiating at this weekend’s London Youth Games Diving event taking place at Crystal Palace N.S.C this Saturday 27th June, diving starts at noon.

This week has seen Jo Melchior (Project Manager) working on elements of the Mobile Pools programme, from visiting potential host sites, recruitment of staff, to designing web based marketing and booking systems, and outreach materials. Also Jo attended an event hosted by Common Purpose, a leadership organisation, to work with a network of business professionals to take on a “change challenge” around diversifying the swimming workforce in London.

This week Jemma Konuralp (Swim21 Quality controller) had a brilliant assessment with Hillingdon SC who's head coach does a fantastic job in respect of communicating with parents, swimmers and their schools! She also had a fabulous start to assessing Enfield SC, and a very positive meeting with Killerwhales of Havering who after a lot of hard work are ready to be assessed for their accreditation. Next week Jemma will be finishing her assessment of Enfield, starting her assessing of Greenwich SC, and continuing her assessment of Saxon Crown. Jemma will also be a VIP (in her capacity as a former Paralympian!) at a schools gala in South London, and will be attending Hillingdon SC's coaches meeting and starting her assessment of Ealing SC!

This highlight of this week for Bastien Wallace (Project Manager - Barking & Dagenham) was visiting the Islington Underwater Hockey Club’s game. What an explosive, fun sport, Bastien is now convinced that Barking & Dagenham should have a go.  The rest of the week has been spent studying for exams, and various meetings.
