British Championships/World Championships Trials, Ponds Forge Sheffield 16-20 March 2009
Congratulations to the London Swimmers who competed very well at the Championships. Unfortunately there were a few missing who would like to have been there as the Meet was staged during the week in term time at a crucial time for A level students.
Ellen Gandy (Beckenham) achieved a British Record in winning the 100m Butterfly 57.49 and surprised herself in the 200m Butterfly with her time of 2.04.83, a new European, Commonwealth and of course British Record.
Ellen is therefore selected for the World Championships in Rome in both 100m & 200m Butterfly.
Kay Grimshaw, asa President and of course London Swimming, was particularly honoured to present the Medals to Ellen as she presented Ellen with her first County medals when Ellen was 10 and just starting on the road to international success.

Charles Turner (Ealing) in an excellent swim gained Silver in the 50m F/s in 22.66 and a 6th place in the 100m F/s
Louisa Farrer-Fisher (Leander)also had an excellent meet gaining 6th place in the 400m F/s – in which Joanne Jackson achieved a World Record – and also 8th place in 200m F/s

Natalie Durant (Ealing) was 6th in 200m Back as well as making semi-final in 100m Back
and 50m F/s
