This week Jo Calvino (RDDO) has been helping to finalise plans for the Diving National Skills Competition in July, and has met with 2 diving clubs with regards to S21, which will hopefully see another diving club go through from the South East very soon. Jo will also be attending the London Youth Games Diving, at the weekend, which are taking place at Hornchurch on Sunday.
Jo will be moving on to a new role within ASA as the Aquatics Development Programme Co-Ordinator for London. Jo will be organising masterclasses across different disciplines to bring a real benefit to athletes and coaches. News of this exciting programme will appear shortly.

This week has seen Jo Melchior (EDS - Lewisham) busy getting things in place before going away next week for some holiday sunshine. Jo has been busy working on final arrangements for the Summer Activity Programme in leisure centres, sorting out the pool programmes for Free Summer Swimming to ensure that whilst the children access plenty of pool time, that regular swimmers and families are not displaced. She has also been assisting with the planning of pool promotions for September for all pools that will coincide with a large-scale marketing campaign. She has also spent time with parents of disabled babies / toddlers to see how an exit route from supported physio sessions to mainstream adult and child classes can be achieved. There were also meetings with mental health service users to introduce them to the benefits of swimming.

This week Annabel Kehoe (EDS - Islington) arranged training for Aquaterra Leisure staff, including a BSAC Snorkelling instructors course, Mini Water Polo CPD and Synchronised Swimming CPD. This coincides with the summer holiday programme that will be running in Islington this year. All four pools have a new and improved programme from last year that will be promoted through Splash magazine and several other marketing initiatives.

This week Janna Callan (RDO) was delighted to learn that she passed her UKCC Level 1 Synchro course. Janna completed the first draft of the Free Swimming Project Plan for Barking and Dagenham and has also met with centre managers to work through some of the costs and risks. Next week Janna will be working on the detail of the costs of the project in Barking and Dagenham and meeting with Neil Scott from Skills Active.

This week Nik Jovanovic (West London Waterpolo coach) met with Ealing swimming and waterpolo club to discuss starting water-polo sessions for juniors. Discussions were very successful and hopefully things will start very soon. Nik also spent some time organising minipolo tournaments and games for teams in West London that already have minipolo sessions. For some teams it will be first time that they are playing against other teams competitively, so should be good. Mini polo sessions are running regularly. For listing see <http://www.londonswimming.org/page/:Waterpolo>

This week Jemma Konuralp (Swim21 Quality coordinator) has met with Haringey Borough Swimming Club in readiness for their Swim 21 assessment. Next week Jemma will be working on clubs which are due to revalidate in August 2008 and those that are due to be reaccredited in 2009.
