London Swimming & ASA Aquaforce Awards

ASA is undertaking a Constitutional Review http://www.britishswimming.org/vsite/vnavsite/page/directory/0,10853,5157-189534-206757-nav-list,00.html. The ASA Constitution has a large impact on how the sport through its club operates. Please comment.
 
ASA Committee Review Consultation
The ASA is currently undertaking a committees review. Members views are invited on the purpose and structure of its committees in order to ensure that they are fit for purpose to deliver key objectives set out in the ASA’s Strategic Plan and Vision. London Championships - Statement

London Masters are planning to hold a fun meet in November with the aim of encouraging master swimmers to have a go at competing.
In 2009 they are planning to hold a long course event at Crystal Palace at the end of January. Following last year’s successful event have booked Karlyn Pipes-Neilsen for a Masters Freestyle Swim Clinic on February 20-22nd at St Pauls's School, Barnes.

The ASA is looking to recruit one young person to undertake an amazing opportunity as a Young Official Development Officer. The Youth Sport Trust and Amateur Swimming Association (ASA) is excited about extending the Young Officials programme and enabling more young people to take up roles as technical sports officials within swimming. Colin Brown (RD):Colin completed a strategic planning exercise in advance of the launch of Sport England new strategy due on 10 June. Colin also met with Neil Mosley Director of Sport for Imperial College and looked at how we can develop positive links with the London student community. 
 
Next week: Colin is Shadowing Stephen Hammond MP as part of his parliamentary sports fellowship, attending the Development and Finance & Admin Committees, has meetings with UEL and Barking & Dagenham PCT and is delivering a training session to GLL centre leads. Colin finishes the week by attending the championships on Sunday in Ealing.
 
This week Mark Griggs (EO) has been working on a number of course processes and attended various meetings to work out processes around the level 2 course.

This week Janna Callan (RDO) has met with Barking and Dagenham Council to discuss starting the new swimming project in the area. Over the weekend Janna will be a volunteer coach on the Multi Regional Synchro Camp, where she is looking forward to developing her coaching.
Next week, Janna will be finalising the list of clubs due for Swim21 accreditation this quarter to ensure they all achieve accreditation smoothly.
 
This week Jo Calvino (RDDO) spent time tying up the loose ends with the legacy programme following the Diving World Series last weekend. Jo also attended the Junior Elite Diving competition in Leeds, and has been confirming arrangements for the National Skills competition, taking place in Plymouth in July.
 
This week Annabel Kehoe (EDS-Islington) was thrilled with the initial success of the Liquid Swim Programme at Highbury Pool, selling out their second week's appointments. Annabel spent most of the week planning the summer holiday programme, which involved a meeting with Mark Griggs to schedule CPDs and a possible Level 2 Teaching Aquatics course. The design process was also underway on the swimming magazine that is being collated for Islington's school children.
Next week Annabel will continue work on the summer holiday programme and the promotion of the activities.
 
This week has seen Jo Melchior (EDS - Lewisham) assisting colleagues at Downham with the Kickz launch, an engagement programme for young people 12+. This is predominantly a football programme but links with partner sports, and Everyday Swim is providing Water Polo, as there is the obvious link with "scoring goals".Jo is also working on extending the training of staff in the Borough with more CPD's and courses and working up consultation and monitoring processes around the impending Free Summer Swimming for young people in Lewisham provided by Lewisham Council.
 
Nikola Jovanovic (West London Waterpolo coach) – This week the first mini-polo test sessions at Vale Farm, Brent and mini-polo open day test session at Gurnell, Ealing took place. It is hoped that these test sessions will increase the number of participants attending the regular mini-polo at Gurnell, and that sufficient participant numbers can be achieved for regular sessions to take place on Saturdays at Vale Farm.
This week Nik also supported Aqua extreme in Ealing, by introducing mini-polo to over 35 children who previously had no experience of mini-polo.
