Swimming in Hackney Position Statement 2 - 16/05/08

Hackney Council has agreed to write a strategy for swimming to incorporate all the aquatic disciplines and a facilities plan to be implemented from 2009. The council has now met with the steering group, which has representation from all the swimming clubs, the leisure operator (GLL), schools swimming and London Swimming. 

The group has decided that a consultation should take place in Hackney with key users of the swimming pools and with community groups that currently do not access the facilities. 

Currently neither of the swimming clubs in Hackney (Clissold Swimming Club nor the Orthodox Jewish Charedi Community Swimming Club, hold ASA Swim21 accreditation.
