Official Synchronised Swimming World Record for London

At the end of last summer, a world record synchronised swim called The Big Sync took place at the London Fields Lido during September. We have now received official confirmation from Guinness World Records that the attempt is now a record.

Katie Fried, Aquabatix Director said “I am very excited to finally be able to announce that The Big Sync is indeed an official Guinness World Record as I have just received confirmation from Guinness World Records that we did it and the official certificate is on its way to me this week. It has been a very long time coming but I think we can all agree that it was worth it and it is a very big relief to finally have the official word from GWR.” Katie also congratulated all the participants and their families on such a fantastic achievement.

One hundred and five synchro swimmers set the new world record for the largest mass participation choreographed synchronised swimming routine ever. It marked the final event of the London Summer of Sport, with swimmers aged from 7 to 70 and abilities ranging from beginners to British Olympic hopefulls Jenna Randall and Olivia Allison.

Aquabatix, which is an agency specialising in the use of synchronised swimming across a range of diverse industries, teamed up with London Swimming and GLL to raise the profile of the sport and increase particpation in synchro across the Capital. Creating a new Guinness World record encouraged not only existing synchro swimmers to become involved in an exciting project, but also gave many Londoners the opportunity to try synchro for the first time. A simple but effective routine was choreographed so all ages and abilities could take up the challenge to become Guiness World Record holders.
